However, she hasn’t counted on the fact that the beautiful, willful first daughter will do anything in her power to escape the watchful eyes of her protectors, including seducing the agent in charge. Both women struggle with long-hidden secrets and dark passions as they are forced to confront their growing attraction amidst the escalating danger drawing ever closer to Blair. From the dark shadows of rough trade bars in Greenwich Village to the elite galleries of Soho, each must balance duty with desire and, ultimately, choose between love and honor.

welcome you are listening to a special episode of TLRs podcast in the series we are talking to the reviewers who brought you tlrs 55 must reread books each episode breaks down the list into specific favorites for that reviewer you can find more reviews and based of lists on the lesbian review.com I’m Sheena and I’m joined today by the feminist April reviewer at TLR April thank you for joining me you’ve good to be here because hey I mean who don’t wanna be on you know lesbian reviews podcast we talked about read books we have book lovers go to please you know think of me like hmmm your literary stash section on is like hey I am the one who’s guiding into the good stuff not just good food or good books hmm totally true today we are talking about April selection for our latest listed we just dropped on tea hour which was the 55 most reread books so what we did is we put together a list I said to the reviewers tell me what books you come back to again and again and let’s put together a list and we came up with a whopping 55 we’re not going to talk about all of them today but we are going to talk about the ones that April really needs all right April so let’s talk about why we would ever reread books considering how many book reviews we do in a year well let’s see the reason why I reread books right is because somehow I could identify all the characters somebody plot something jumps out at me and I end up in love with all these books and they’re my go-to they’re like Comfort Reese they’re like resale take me out of job hassles everything hey I was considered becoming an FBI agent or Secret Service at one point in time I wanted to leave behind my desk job because it’s like a boring mundane same thing and then when I look at what some of these characters when Taurasi nah I’m gonna sit my butt down by my dress and crunch numbers yeah I’m not touching any bullets today no no no not for me but it’s fun to live vicariously your characters you know it was like I’m so glad I don’t have this drama but damn is this exciting absolutely true I think you absolutely nailed it living vicariously and I see that actually a lot of the things you go back to again and again have some sort of cop or FBI agent or some exciting thing happening in them so you definitely like to live vicariously of course why not it doesn’t get any better than that I’m not moving for my desk all day the least I could do is get in on all the action with a hot woman oh god I’d love to meet them in real life but even though I can’t meet them in real life I fell in love with them in a book okay so let’s go through your selection above all honor by Radcliffe is your first pick on this list so let’s talk about that let’s just see camera once she’s up no the first time I picked up this book I didn’t have any high high set of expectations because when I ready blue it was about this secret service agent camera bus being you know call upon to protect Leah Powell the daughter also known as Ygritte the president’s daughter and she was a reluctant protecta protecta you know she didn’t want to be protected she didn’t want this detailed tagging or until I’ve seen every minor detail of her life she hated every moment of it and hey at a point in time she hated come but you know things have a way of working out and she eventually caught feelings become but the thing is cows like this for a little girl is giving me a run for every cent I’m earning because she is dodging us all security detail every step of the way and making me look bad so yeah I have to tell this girl all over the city and not lose her but then yeah you know Blair changed her mind when she saw what actually went in to protect enough the sacrifice is a team had to make you know and when she realized how much they were doing I’m willing to give up for her for my change and I had softened towards come you know this story unfolded so beautifully and I loved how active the whole thing together she made it seem realistic it wasn’t like flashbang all of our suicide woman sees that a woman I’m obviously have chemistry it took a while for that chemistry to build up and I love the build-up the introduction to the characters they were well-rounded I could relate to them because I mean who would want secrets uderstand enough outside their bedroom door I mean these Adrienne’s are listening in on everything what kind of reminds like could you possibly have with these people tagging her own right and it was a big time oh you know Secret Service agents aren’t supposed to cross that romantic line you know with their subjects but rock to get it in a way that I’d need mean just go oh and then I saw me for the next book in his series but nothing could talk before this book nothing I remember enjoying this one tremendously as well when I got it and it is available in audiobook for those who particularly like the audio series okay so what’s the next one for you it shouldn’t be a crime by Constantine yes this book was serious I’m not gonna lie but it had a funny highlight here and I’m not saying it funny now sounds like comically funny but I mean think about it Morgan and Parker they met animals unusual circumstances you know Morgan actually goes to devise a surprise and long-standing partner you know I’m living with you pay 10 years of past it’s time to tie the knot kind of partner so I go to the bar seeking you out what I wanna tuna surprise hey I finished what coolly I’m here they not socialize and enjoy the good life with you wanted to bounce up a partner making out and do whatever else with someone to you probably not to who cuz this probably has been going on a while but you know it’s a walk into a situation like that it’s not easy and I was like oh it’s like facepalm oh my god and instead of running all the way she came she ran out the back door and cut her so caught in this ayah and she didn’t know how to get back Oh talk about embarrassing cuz I’m somebody fucked at the kitchen this lady was gonna be a soon-to-be ex no you’re in a predicament know that you’ve got into a back alley door closes behind you and you cannot get back Oh would you either scale the fence what are you gonna do to get out of this predicament and here comes along Parker you know thank you again to CVD but she’s the bartender a good-looking button got that right who is actually a student because she’s gonna go back to school to pursue a law degree whatever Ibaka comes in on the scene now opens the door helps but in this case classing T it made the attraction she did it in such a way that she media attraction almost immediate but in a way that it soothes a eek because Morgan is Hootin she’s willing to grasp on any show at this point in time I could happens to be there and the mother hung good-looking fiber on whatever puppet is she seems like a lifeline to Morgan to move on reaches out to Papa and Papa access that original and she pulls in because Papa is no stranger to helping women in need you know so I was like ah boy it starts off with a ban on the best one-night stand of this century and reality dawns bright and early now when Parker goes back to school and realizes oh crap this also one who shared my bed is actually my professor so it’s like oh my god what a moment now when you walk in and realized those long legs and somewhere after on my knees and here it is I am facing her in the classroom talk about awkward so the be that kind of situation I don’t envy Parker that situation but hey I can live through there right yeah then they get the best case of the century where Parker and Morgan have to work together you know they have to help me on the dorm they have to do the right thing but should we shell that chemistry between us should we put aside what we feel feed each other while the case is going on or if we explore a few things is that gonna throw everything out of whack is Rob was it or is you know the cool daddy entity needs a healthy plan what matters moves between would of us and this is what I love about constant takes you fascinates me it balances justice would love it always balances that okay could we do it should we do it is it you know that kind of thing because yes the romance is there it surrounds the story but it doesn’t overwhelm the story you get a really neat fast piece crying plug in between you know while you’re trying to solve a murder while you’re trying to represent a client that’s my take on her book that sounds awesome this book is also available on audio for those of you who are interested in buffing up your audible library and now moving on to the third book which is lethal Affairs by Kim Baldwin and zinnia Alexio I apologize if I’m not pronouncing I’ve only seen it written don’t worry xenja we love you too but it’s just that I’m gonna trip over your last name so I can’t even jump in there I’ll have to see Kim and zinnia by their social dinner last week cuz I really don’t want to make a mistake with your name but I love the book by the way on the Sun book awesome series and if I have to talk about the entire series we’d be here all day and into the night so that’s not gonna happen but lethal FPS that’s another oh my god that’s another awesome book and I have to tip my hat to these two awesome women because they bought the book they polluted and it it came off awesome how many people do you know could pull off a collaboration like that with all the Tiffany skills one way or the other yet given the chemistry between Luke and Haley but you’re not being overwhelmed by it because I am hooked on my seat with all the drama that’s good oh yes oh my god I can’t believe this happening meanwhile I might be getting my hairy eyeball or the mean eye for my boss ladies like did she finish those schools and yet figures yet she did what he can do you know so this book had that effect on me and I’ll tell you why because Domino also known as Luca in the story because she goes by Domino on the de light operative organization they give them their names right so Domino is because me for her job but Luca is everything what I like about this series’s that the assassins as we call them always have a normal day job the Assassin’s Creed urbanization sculptures or they move eight or ten languages like Luca being through these languages they go through defense training they are all around it so it is not they are not just muscle they are not just bring less assassins taking orders and just firing off these women are knowledgeable well-trained and everything but they just would be like operative organization they work in the shadows no one’s supposed to know about them nobody’s supposed to know that this group exists so to need prominent figures who become a threat to the country to do whatever they are sent like the real garbage collectors the clean up the grittiness that society leaves behind so this is what be like all the operative organization does no I’m not going to say yeah yes kill everyone but they are really sweeping on people who are doing bad things to others so healing what she’s a journalist she comes in here now right okay this is this a story that you know I picked up a story that this person has been killing people she’s the caught on camera caught red-handed by the way who is she where did she come from and I think I could make my career with this is my only investigate the school that get the answers I’m gonna make it big but make it big at what cost am I gonna die for this knowledge am I gonna have to run for the rest of my life kind of thing and Kim Bolin and I’m just amazed at cameras in here they put this thing together so well is like okay Luca with all the cool hearted precision when she does a job she would find it strange to just jump on the chance to kill the journalist because as I cookie how much do you really know is it worth me killing you before I find out what you know who else knows what you know you know that kind of thing but I did a this story I know the story reminds me of it reminds me of Lee with this book you know the one requiem frame ourselves it reminds me of this Booker she is watching the target and we okay I’m sorry design or should I really kill you and as same thing hookahs doing guys wondering okay should I kill her but she’s that gorgeous yes I like her a little bit but I might being disloyal to the organization like not killing her all right one time or I’m Michael this was a my heart could I actually have luck and I have what I wanted you know could I even think about that doing the job that I do for this organization and this also brings home to the point another but that I had loved that one the Devils in the details by Sidney gives him so you see this book is bringing together different books that I have loved so little of face is like a combination of other books that I love and I love the way Kim Baldwin just moves the story and any pieces of the story everything begins basically with because killing that dude in a man is like oh my god cuz she was sent actually do a babysitting job a young lady like operative you know messed up her job it became punched and she had to clean up the mess and you know she gets herself in a sticky situation where okay I’m caught on camera never been caught on camera before what is my boss gonna think what am I gonna do there rectify this situation and okay put this into his hands who give her that information in the first case I need to know who give about information and what has she done with it it’s a great read I love exactly what you’re talking about how the SS and characters actually post in the end to make a decision between the woman who she’s starting to fall in love with and the company she works for and is very loyal to who she feels is kind of saved her so there’s this beautiful carry talk along with the romance and a lot of fun action definitely with it also available on audio book for those who are interested oh my god you see she know this is why I have to just read books on stay with them because if I could have done this in real life I meet these women and I have several weddings by now how many lives get with it I’m not gonna have how many right yeah I’m gonna be accused of being I really you want bride thank you for being an awesome lesson and supporting tools the channel that brings you all the podcasts you want to hear you’re listening to talk find more podcasts on the Lisbon talk show calm well that brings us to arguably one of the sexiest villains in Lisbon fiction with the devil inside by le belly you had to know this was coming you had to know this book was coming there was no way that you’re gonna get our own mean that saying oh my god give me a book from Ali Valley I’m a serious al Valley fangirl so you had to Kim Casey was coming Oh kinky see that is my second fiction unlike because remember I mentioned camera bus was my first know key and Casey god I envy Emma why can’t you love me instead next time i order has to put me in their book you know no I can’t can see with a devil inside know at first when the book started out I’m gonna admit that I wasn’t too pleased with Kings behavior in the beginning because of the way she moves cuz I thought she was being too hard on Emma because being a crime boss I mean think about it the pool I was thinking the poor woman probably ran out of right thinking oh my god you were doing all these do some things in case he is like she is the awesome kind boy she has alcohol deal going on underneath scenes and nobody could catch her sometimes when you try to catch up with her is like she has a spinning around catching their teeth and that is something I will always love in this series and I love the way she guides her son you know she guys we found in a week but it just made me Oh cuz she is family oriented she will go out of her way and this story actually shows and we hope the Angus clan become together no matter what and is not just her family she looks over she was all four other families who are linked to them and her whose loyalty doesn’t just arrange to the Irish people she deals with Spanish Cuban other people in the area who are well known and well loved and she deals with people with principle she doesn’t involve herself in cocaine or any of those stuff she keeps her legit she just has her alcohol she runs it tax-free and she keeps most of her money in her pocket and I could see myself working but I’ll help but keep away from the IRS yeah fix me don’t worry about it she just does things she’s a woman of principle she wouldn’t kill underage children she wouldn’t do certain things she looks out for her little hand younger sister you know who is developmentally delayed and I love this you know she did all this even though she came from a place in law she lost her father William she’s still doing it was really awesome excel can stir talk and it’s a mix of the best of booze and romance was there as well so Ali spinning looking to see what Kiki see trust me and never be born once you read any book with her in it that’s for sure this was a totally this series is just epic Ali Valley it has me sold I don’t care she has 22 books in the series I’m gonna read them all up I’m actually relatively sure that this one also has an audiobook so for those of you who like what do you start with the devil inside and there’s a whole series to go what Feli manages to do with a character who’s traditionally a bad guy she makes her the marvelously layered character with a really fascinating relationship with her wife and her son and I thought it’s a particularly cool series from that perspective like nothing else in let’s fix that I read dustless exactly nothing has to touch this I have never been very bad side in my life on hey look at mutant but a mobster a Michael J go get it and I was getting it really getting the side-eye for my boss oh god I had to stay with that I had to still leave that day at work and make up for lost time but it was every one of those Reed’s once that book is released I’m calling in sick at work because a I have to get up to date with any book she releases Valley let’s hope your boss does not listen to this podcast I have to make sure she’s not here on the lesbian review but then again if she is on the lesbian review but gosh II understand cuz she’s gonna read the book and then she’d see where I’m coming from and she might be missing on route 2 yeah there we go you guys can can can book club together if you’re fabulous bad girl reads which brings us to to the last one of your rereads which is weeping walls by Jerry Hill it’s interesting cuz most of your your books the main characters actually no two of your books the main characters or bad guys and then the other ones they’re all good guys it’s very interesting you have an interesting spread here well my son a living by curious being was always attracted to be bad goo gone good with a good side or the good goo gone bad you see think about it like this come she is a good person but she she’s also leaving with a gun so think about it like that they all have a touch of good and bad in them like that you don’t need a goody two-shoes all the time but you need one good just bring out that side when you needed to because you know she having a good fame everything for you think about it like that that’s my fantasy tall with swagger and that kind of good and bad girl you should have been in a career in law enforcement April Oh tell me you see women in uniform that is my weakness that’s my kryptonite from anytime I don’t care if it’s a fire uniform police FBI army I get weak enemies somebody’s gonna have to hold me up because I love to see women and not uniform oh my god okay so the last one of your pixels weeping wolves by Jerry Hill this is an interesting one because it’s actually the second book in the series I know when I first read keepers and Nakia was like damn I didn’t know that Jerry you could write like this but do you know that fools will give me nightmares you know because I was dreaming about those things in that case we thing was they terrify me to that extent right but I just love chemistry between CG and Pete Riley um is it weird that one of my exes last name was Johnston like CJ Johnston I was like oh I’m reading about you here in a book but CJ on page I just love that chemistry needs mean them they have this going on she was anybody I was there why they were trying to solve a mystery is like okay we have this house everybody knows about this old house this weekend house why isn’t anybody talking about what goes on with the house yet a Dead Pool you know on point tunes like his body is from their dead bodies in front this house and no one sees anything no one knows anything and all potential witnesses I certainly literally struck blind no one knows no we don’t see anything coming from there no reminds you of anything familiar when anything happens and they will all know we didn’t see me we don’t know and yet it goes all the way back to cool case from 14 years ago so okay you have a cool case and then it comes forward to the present there’s a dead body supernatural elements at work this house is menacing and you sending these FBI these two FBI agents who had to solve something that nobody wanted to believe and he first book in the series would keep us at a cave now you’re sending them into this again they’re like oh no what are we gonna do it and you’re not put a case now what are we gonna tell them a house did it what are we gonna tell them I spirit if you know we’re gonna lose our badges what last never wanted to believe what happened what are we gonna do this time and they go to the trailer park family goes investigate people and people are just like cooking how much should I tell you and then they’re like okay maybe it’s neighborhood children doing this maybe it’s some predator out there and what fascinated me about this book by Jerry Hill is that I the people who I thought did the movie didn’t do it cuz I kept pointing my finger at one character in particular thinking yeah it’s gotta be it’s gotta be and I realize that’s some humble pie is like I pointed my fingers at the wrong person all this time it’s like Jerry you’ll have me turned on my head this whole series I wasn’t mad I thought I’d meet something on my head on it right now I’m pretty angry upset that there isn’t a book tree why isn’t there a book tree this series went so well with the first two books why isn’t she followed it up with a book three I really wanna see cjm page again I actually loved these two FBI agents cuz many times when people write FBI agent Syria they write them as really pushy you know egotistical people but see JMP agent come on that way they came off really helpful they were working well with the county police they actually had good rapport and their team their team reaction to their relationship I mean it was awesome it was lovely and it was upsetting to me and I want more of this and I don’t know Jerry I was gonna listen I want her to write a new book I agree a hundred percent I actually emailed Jerry Hill and said to her are you planning a third book in the series because I just love the series so much and she’s not and it’s tragic so listeners if you are big fans or if you pick up this audiobook and you think this is the best thing ever email to hear let’s get a campaign going come on people let’s get a third book in the series woohoo it will make my Christmas Oh Jerry Hill you don’t have to write it to this Christmas all right if the next year Christmas will by that time I’ll feel like a kid at the candy store I love my door ignore all relatives and I’ll just read a book how about that 2020 Christmas we went at a rally at johnson book yes give it to us please go Jerry go Jerry so April you’ve got some some things going here you’ve got very strong Butch and femme combinations in your romances you’ve got very strong elements of like twisty plots in a lot of these like what’s gonna happen next and you’ve got really strong either very good or very bad guys in in the lead oh there’s the kinds of things that make you come back to a book again and again well what makes me go master look again and again I just like the action-packed meteor this story because the faster the action the more the drama the heighten the climax in this story yeah that I can forget about anything having a bad day pick up your book with your favorite Butch and femme couple you wanna skip yet boring job on it’s a dead thing in the middle of a meetin full of that can lap on your phone and read about a woman going robot one invading the FBI like and Casey I mean us that’s the best thing for me I love passion from couples I do but I also love butch and butch couples feminine couples I do but my favorite books just happen to have my Butch and femme couples so don’t worry I read a lot of books with all different couples but somehow my favorite books just happen to have these pairings these romantic pairings and they happen to be fast please never a dull moment and I like excitement you wouldn’t know this from senior and work with my glasses and I’m shuffling around here doing this adding that I might look like yeah typical accountant yeah she’s not moving from that desk anytime soon she gives you that last face at the door when you come with your tax return yes that is me but underneath all that and my spectacles or my contact lens this one when we could find my glasses room because they are times my daughter has hid my glasses from me like today so I have on contact so whichever one works I’ll put them on and you’ll always find me there with a book hiding behind I wanna touch sneaking a little read every loan again do you really really during meetings oh you mean sometimes my coworkers are there arguing and a point is riding on for an hour our next person I decided me sleeping with Susan into their coffee day they’re actually nodding I’m like you prop yourself up you’re loving you’re gonna rule over and hit the desk kind of mad enough yeah with my phone I love Mykel up on my iPhone and I’m there reading while they’re arguing when I hear the meeting is being summed up close up and I’m looking like yeah all in favor of my hand is up yep I’m in favor let’s get on with our lives because sometimes in you chain goes Oriya and one posters dragging on a point on you they like make what I’m listing another of my life where is key in case you come to save me and I pull up and I get in to where I last was run hey what sometimes I jump on board I see what Luca is doing I see if she’s there meeting Helios yet it all goes to me I love it I love it in April this is why you’re such an awesome member of the team is because you love the books so very much in your right absolutely gorgeous reviews and if you if you love this go check out April’s other abuse there’s a link in the show notes to her favorite books on TLR well thank you so much for
